Your Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) application has been approved. The SINP has determined that you are urgently required to begin your employment with PCL Energy of Vanscoy Saskatchewan prior to receiving your permanent resident status.
Before starting work you must apply for a temporary work permit.
Please complete the attached Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) form "Application for a Work Permit made outside of Canada" (IMM 1295). As per the Immigrant Refugee Protection Regulation 87, please include a copy of this letter with your complete application for a work permit to the appropriate CIC Visa Office. Refer to
www.cic.gc.ca
for instructions on applying for a work permit including information on supporting documentation and fees. For more information on applying for a work permit please see the attached document: Nominated? What To Do If I Have a Job Offer?
Your qualification as a nominee does not guarantee acceptance of your application for a temporary work permit or permanent residence in Canada.

Nominated? What if I Have a Job Offer?
If you were nominated and were issued a Work Permit Support Letter with your nomination you may choose to apply for a work permit prior to receiving your Permanent Resident status. The Work Permit Support Letter issued by the SINP replaces the need for a positive Labour Market Opinion, which is usually required by CIC in order to apply for a work permit. A work permit allows you to come to Canada as a temporary resident and work for the employer designated on the work permit for a limited period of time (usually up to 2 years). However, there are a few things you need to consider when making this decision.
Step 1: Decide if you will apply for Work Permit.
i) Receiving a provincial Nomination does not guarantee that Citizenship and Immigration Canada will approve you for a work permit. This means you may pay the work permit application fees and submit an application to CIC, but if you are not successful your work permit application fees will not be returned to you.
ii) Your family members may or may not receive temporary resident visas to accompany you to Canada while waiting for your Permanent Resident applications to be assessed. CIC will make the final decision of whether to issue your spouse or children permits to accompany you as temporary residents. This means you may be separated from your family until you become a permanent resident.
iii) Check the processing times for provincial nominee program (PNP) permanent resident applications and compare this to the processing time for work permit applications for the Visa Office you are applying to. If the processing times are similar for both work permit and permanent resident applications the Visa Office will likely ask you not to submit a work permit application.
iv) Discuss the options with your employer in Saskatchewan. Some employers may need you to start working as soon as possible, others may prefer that you arrive as a permanent resident with your family.
Nominated? What If I Have a Job Offer?
Step 2. If you decide to apply for a work permit go the CIC website for instructions on how to apply for a work permit, including instructions on fees, supporting documents and how to fill out the application form.
www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp
. Follow the instructions to prepare your application.
Step 3. Determine which Visa Office you should submit your work permit application to. This will not always be the same office that you send your Permanent Resident application to. Visit the Where to Apply to section of the CIC website at:
www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp
.
Step 4. Once you determine which Visa Office to apply to, visit the website for that Visa Office to determine the fees and what method of payment is acceptable at that office.
Step 5. Make a copy of your application for your own records.
Step 6. Submit your complete application to the appropriate Visa Office. Remember to include your SINP Work Permit Support Letter and send your application by registered mail to ensure you application is received by the Visa Office.
Step 7. Keep in contact with your employer in Saskatchewan to let them know how your application process is going and when you might arrive in Saskatchewan.
